SEO vs AEO vs GEO vs LLMO: Buying the Right Scope
Compare the work behind the labels. A proposal should tell you what changes, who reviews it and how progress is measured.
Understand the overlap
SEO concerns search discovery and relevance. AEO emphasizes clear answers. GEO and LLMO are commonly used for work on generative visibility and business representation. These practices share content, technical and entity foundations. Charging for four labels is not necessarily wrong, but each line should have a distinct deliverable or responsibility.
Ask for an evidence contract
For a Qatar professional-services business, an engagement might include six service-page improvements, an Arabic question map and a defined observation sample. Ask who checks factual claims, how source links are maintained and what counts as a citation. A dashboard without an observation method is not enough to judge progress.
Avoid the invented ranking promise
Generated answers vary by wording, context and platform behavior. A single appearance cannot support a claim of permanent ranking. Google explicitly describes ordinary SEO practices as relevant to its AI features. Treat any guaranteed recommendation or proprietary universal AI score as a claim that needs a transparent explanation and evidence.
Put it into practice
- Compare deliverables rather than acronyms.
- Separate content creation from monitoring.
- Require actual cited URLs in observations.
- Keep qualified enquiries as a distinct business outcome.
